Huawei Is Working On A LCD Display

May 24, 2019Leave a message

As evident, most of the Chinese brands including Huawei, OnePlus and Xiaomi have been following the steps of Apple since long time. After the launch of the iPhone X, almost every other device came with a Notched display. But soon the brands like Oppo and Vivo took a step ahead and disrupted the market with their own vogue of smartphones having truly bezel-less displays. Now, as per the latest reports, it seems that Huawei too is planning to get on the same bandwagon by using a hole on screen for housing the Selfie Camera.

The report sourced from a South Korean organisation called ET News reveals that Huawei has been working on the development of a bezel-less LCD Display with a hole on top since the fourth quarter of 2017. This will be a replacement to the Notch that will be used to accommodate the front camera. The hole will prevent the camera from being obstructed by the display glass, which would have been the case with an in-display camera technology.

The attached image shows the Huawei’s concept showcasing the transformation from a traditional design to reduced bezels and notch, and from notch to just a point-sized hole for the front camera coupled with skinny bezels. The speaker, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor are now moved to the little bezel on top. This concept may look similar to the Essential Phone at first sight but is way more superior in reality, counting in the negligible bezels at the bottom, and the disengaged camera hole.

As per sources, Huawei may turn this hole-punching technology into reality in the fourth quarter of 2018, most probably with their upcoming Huawei Mate 20, or else, they might preserve this concept for the next year’s P-series as well.

The recently launched devices like the OPPO Find X and Vivo NEX employed different innovations for maximising the screen to body ratio by ditching the notch. Let us see if Huawei brings something out of syllabus to compete with two of these fantastic creations. We will keep you updated with the latest information, stay tuned.
