Cover glass, mainly used in the outermost layer of the touch screen, the main raw material of the product is ultra-thin flat glass, with anti-impact, scratch resistance, oil resistance, enhance light transmittance and other functions. Cover glass has obvious advantages in surface finish, thickness, high hardness, pressure resistance, scratch resistance and other important parameters and properties compared with other materials of cover glass, so it has gradually become the mainstream protection solution for each touch technology.
The production process of the front end of the cover glass can be mainly divided into two kinds: the overflow process and the float method.
1. Under the overflow process: the glass liquid enters the overflow channel from the feeding part, flows down the surface of the long overflow trough, and forms a glass belt at the bottom of the wedge at the lower part of the overflow trough, and forms flat glass after annealing. It is a hot technology in the manufacture of ultra-thin cover glass at present, with high processing yield, good quality and good overall performance.
2. Float method: After the glass liquid out of the oven flows into the molten metal float tank, the glass in the float tank is freely flattened on the surface of the metal liquid surface by surface tension and gravity, and is cooled to a certain temperature when it reaches the end of the tank. After coming out of the float tank, the glass enters the annealing cellar for further cooling and cutting. The surface of the glass by floating method has good flatness and strong optical properties.
After production, the glass also goes through cutting, CNC engraving, grinding, strengthening, screen printing, coating, cleaning and other production processes to achieve the many functional requirements of the cover glass.
Different glass for touch screen:
Sodalime glass-the most common glass. It's tempered which is up to 3X harder than normal glass.
The function：Glass with good optics and flatness. Up to 92% penetration.
The range of thickness：0.55mm，0.7mm，1.1mm，1.6mm，1.8mm，2.0mm，3.0mm，4.0mm，5.0mm, 6.0mm, 8.0mm, 12mm.
Tempered Glass- the glass treated with chemical tempering can have better pressure resistance.
The function: the glass with good pressure resistance and optical and flatness has good impact resistance(IK07-IK10).
