Compared with resistive touch screens, which were common in the market at the time, capacitive touch screens have obvious advantages. Firstly, capacitive touch screens only need to be touched and do not require pressure to generate a signal, whereas resistive touch screens are activated by pressure. Secondly, capacitive touch screens have a long average life span. Again, in resistive touch screens, the top film needs to be thin enough to be flexible in order to bend down to touch the film below, so it is prone to damage, whereas capacitive touch screen covers can be thicker and protected by glass, which is scratch resistant and better protects the conductors and sensors. In addition, capacitive touch screens are more durable, less prone to ageing and resistant to high temperatures. Moreover, the capacitive touch screen's double glass design is more effective in preventing external environmental factors from affecting the touch screen, even if the screen is stained with dirt, dust or oil, the capacitive touch screen can still accurately calculate the touch position.
